Field-Study 3: Technology in The Learning Environment

Over-all
The Field-Study 3: Technology in The Learning Environment gave me enriching experiences in developing and utilizing appropriate technology to facilitate learning. It gave me exposure and hands on opportunities with the use of information and communications technology.
I learned to identify and classify resources that facilitate teaching and learning process. I can appraise the effectiveness of displays and learning resources. I can now design a bulletin board display; I learned also to determine the appropriateness of teaching aids to learning task. I believe that I can now develop and utilize materials which involve students in meaningful learning. I learned also to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of a slide presentation in facilitating the teaching-learning process. And lastly, I can now determine the appropriateness of the internet resources to learning task.
This FS helped me to be in focus about the technology in the learning environment. It’s preparing me for the future.
‘Till the next journey of FS.

Activity 6
I thought it is good to use different graphics and pictures to add the content in a slide, but I’m thankful that I’ve read a book about how to prepare power point presentation.  I also learned new things aside from the use of graphics and pictures. A good presentation should eliminate distracting backgrounds, and have consistency in the design. Avoid putting too much information on one screen display. Don’t use decorative clip art to confuse the message. Don’t use too many colors on one screen, and don’t use graphics, animations, or audio without a good purpose.

Activity 5
I encountered difficulties on making my hand. A good handout should include all the needed information about the topic and it should reliable. I come up in using two books as a reference so that my handout will contain all the needed information about the topic.
In preparing hand-outs, you must always remember to use good books. The physical appearance should be appropriate and must follow guidelines. Make people pay attention to the content of the handout, not its appearance
Make the handout easy to navigate.

Activity 4
The material I liked the most are mock-ups, because, this material is fun and it can captures student attention. Students will learn easy about the topic. I have difficulty in preparing visual aids. I asked for help and tip how to make a good visual aid.
We should always remember that learning resources should be appropriate with the lesson to be discussed.

Activity 3
If I were in the place of the teacher, I will also use books as a learning resource. I will also use flashcards about polynomials; this will serve as an appetizer in presenting my lesson. I will give individual task so everybody in the class will have their participation. I know it will be fun, and it will develop the abilities of my student in solving math problems.

FS3:activity2

For me, the teacher should have 5 skills to be able to come up with effective board display. The teacher must have a good topic to do a good bulletin board. The teacher should be a resourceful one, so that costly materials will be avoided.. The teacher should place good information, facts, and trivia so that it can caught attention and learning will take place. The teacher must be creative in designing the bulletin board. And lastly, the teacher must be open minded in accepting praise and criticisms.

I'm good not only  in designing bulletin board, I'm also good in designing different stuff.

I'm not a resourceful person before, but now I'm trying by doing simple things.

Functioning computers caught my attention, because many computers in the school is not functioning well. I’m also confident to use/operate computer because I have a prior knowledge about it. I feel  that I have difficulty in using LCD projector.

Compare LCD Projectors
By Ken Marlborough
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) projectors are devices used for displaying presentations or videos in an enlarged size. They are the modern replacements for slide projectors and overhead projects which were popular earlier.
LCD projectors are available in several variants with differing specifications. Choosing the right projector is as simple as knowing what it will be used for. The two parameters needed to compare an LCD projector are - cost and specifications. Knowing what is needed and how much you will need to use the various features / specifications of an LCD projector are going to be will help one compare the projectors with a better perspective. For this reason, it is important to know the basics of projectors before comparing them.
Aspect Ratio: It refers to the width vs. the height of the projected image. UXGA, VGA, XGA, and SVGA resolution all have a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Brightness: A projector's brightness is measured in lumens. The more light in the room where the projector will be used, the more bright the projector should be.
Contrast Ratio: Is the ratio between the darkest and brightest areas of the projected image. Medium Contrast ratio projectors can be found with a ratio of 500:1 to 1200:1.
Data Signal Ports: These ports on the projector should be compatible with whatever image source they will be paired with.
Keystone Correction: This is the ability to correct the image distortion that is created when a projector is placed at anything other than a 90 degree angle to the screen.
Native resolution: This resolution for a digital projector is the actual number of physical pixels on the projector's image chip.
Projection screens: These screens come in various fabrics and sizes. While it's possible to project the images on a blank wall, the best image quality will be achieved by projecting the images on a good screen.
Video Format Capability: A digital projector's video format capability determines which video format data it can accept. Most projectors will offer all three: PAL, NTSC, and SECAM.
A wide range of desired projectors can be found by giving exact specifications on various website over the internet. Once these basic features of projectors are compared and the best suited LCD projector identified, one can go ahead and compare the prices of the required projector.
